The cockleshell border of this shawl is knitted first and then is followed by short rows in garter stitch to create a crescent shape (there is no need to wrap and turn in this pattern).

Gauge
23 sts and 20 rows over 10cm (4in) over garter st after washing and blocking

Materials
Jamiesons of Shetland Ultra (lace weight; 50% lambswool, 50% Shetland wool, 194m /25g balls). 4 x 25g balls in Silver, 314

Needles and Notions
One set of two extra-long (40cm) double pointed needles (DPNs) or 100cm long circular needle size 3.5mm (UK 10-9 / US 4) or needles in a size required to give correct gauge. Stitch markers, Blunt tapestry needle, Blocking Wires and / or rust-proof pins
